Back in 2008, the New York Jets were a strong 8-3 to begin the season and appeared to be on the path to being a favorite for Super Bowl XLIII. Behind veteran quarterback Brett Favre, the sky appeared to be the limit for New York.
Favre eventually played through an injury, though, and his lack of effectiveness because of that injury ended up hurting the team so much that they finished 9-7 and missed the playoff entirely.
It appears something similar has happened to the 2024 Jets.
In a report from NFL Network Sunday morning, Aaron Rodgers, Favre's former backup with the Packers, has not only been playing through multiple injuries this season but is actually resisting getting medical scans done to show whether he needs to be sidelined or not.
"One source explained that Rodgers has resisted getting scans done, not wanting to reveal the severity of his injuries out of fear of having to come off the field. He has insisted that he keep playing," Ian Rappaport reported.
If Rodgers has truly been ducking getting tests done on injuries to his hamstring and other lower body concerns - keeping a secret from his own team, essentially - it does explain the lack of effectiveness of the entire offense as a whole.

It is also a terrible look for the Jets as a team.
New York did everything it could to get Rodgers in the building in 2023 and even made coaching and roster decisions that the quarterback would favor overall. For them to allow Rodgers to keep playing while hurt is a clear sign of how deep the quarterback's control on the team has been through the last two years.
And how disastrous the era has truly been for the organization.
