U.S. News and World Report named Intermountain Logan Regional Hospital a 2025 High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care, according to a press release from Intermountain Health, Dec. 19.
"Intermountain Logan Regional Hospital earned a high performing designation in recognition of maternity care as measured by factors such as severe unexpected newborn complication rates, birthing-friendly practices and transparency on racial/ethnic disparities, among other measures," the press release states.
According to their website, U.S. News and World Report is "a multifaceted digital media company dedicated to helping consumers, business leaders and policy officials make important decisions in their lives.
"We use world-class data and technology to publish independent reporting, rankings, journalism and advice that has earned the trust of our readers and users for more than 90 years," their website reads.
Brandon McBride, president and CEO of the hospital, provided a statement as part of the press release.
"We're incredibly proud of our team of OB-GYN physicians, certified nurse midwives, women and newborn nurses, lactation consultants, care managers, and social workers who come together with a shared passion to provide high-quality maternity care and ensure the well-being of mothers and babies," McBride said. "This accolade reflects our commitment to nurturing and safeguarding the precious journey of motherhood and newborn life."
According to the release, U.S. News and World Report has been tracking maternity care since 2021. Of 817 hospitals submitting maternity care data to the publication for its analysis, half of them received the same commendation.
Jennifer Winston, a health-data scientist for U.S. News said, "These hospitals demonstrate significantly lower C-section rates and severe unexpected newborn complications compared to hospitals not recognized by U.S. News."
The publication's website also lists the hospital as having high performance in its work with heart attack procedures and conditions.
