New-Look Jets Make Same Mistakes, Drop AFC East Clash to Bills 23-20

In a game that had everything, leave it to the New York Jets to outdo themselves.

Despite making changes to the head coach and offensive play-caller, New York still struggled with their usual set of problems in a close 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.

In the first game for interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich and offensive play-caller Todd Downing, it was the Jets offense that appeared to fix much of their concerns during the course of the first half.

New York jumped out to a 10-7 lead thanks to a five-yard completion from Aaron Rodgers to Garrett Wilson.

A three-touchdown day from Josh Allen, though, would put Buffalo ahead before the half

New York trailed by 20-10 late in the second quarter before Rodgers scored his fourth Hail Mary touchdown of his career - this one to Allen Lazard - to cut the halftime deficit to just 20-17.

In the second half, both teams traded field goal misses to keep the game tied going into the final quarter of play.

It wasn't until the fourth quarter when things really got crazy.

Two missed kicks inside 45 yards from Greg Zuerlein doinked off the uprights on either side of the field. Late in the fourth quarter, Tyler Bass would end the 20 stand-off with a 22-yard field goal attempt.

New York's new-look offense tried a last-ditch effort to end their two-game losing streak, but Mike Williams fell down on a deep toss that Taron Johnson would intercept to preserve the victory for Buffalo.

New York falls to 2-4 on the season and is now a full two and a half games back from the Bills in the AFC East.

They will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday night with a chance to end their now three-game losing streak.
