Tim Blake Nelson is back and greener than ever! Promo art for Captain America: Brave New World gives fans their first look at The Leader.
Despite Marvel announcing Tim Blake Nelson's return as The Leader at the same time as the reveal of Captain America: Brave New World, the actor has been all but absent from promotional material for the film. The only thing fans have seen of the villain is the back of his head in one of the trailer, leaving the internet in the dark as to what the character will look like in the final product.
This all changed rather suddenly with the release of new promo art for Captain America: Brave New World. This provided fans with the first look as Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader. The character has a much more muted color scheme when compared to the comics, coming off as more of a behind-the-scenes mastermind than an out and about villain.
Not much is known about The Leader's role in Captain America: Brave New World, especially as most promotion for the film has focused on Harrison Ford's MCU debut as Red Hulk. However, a few details can be surmised about Tim Blake Nelson's character from the trailers, such as him likely being behind Isaiah Bradley's attack on President Ross as seen in the film's first teaser.
From there, it's possible that The Leader simply controls things from behind the scenes. Given how high the stakes are in Captain America: Brave New World, it wouldn't be shocking if Anthony Mackie never truly throws a punch at Tim Blake Nelson. Rather, his schemes are simply foiled, leaving him to slink off to be defeated another day once Red Hulk is under control.
