Aaron Rodgers' Teammates Trying To Protect Him From Claims He Stabbed Robert Saleh In The Back+

While NFL fans understandably suspect that Aaron Rodgers had a say in the team firing head coach Robert Saleh, his teammates are out in the media peddling a different narrative.

Speaking to reporters in the wake of Robert Saleh's firing on Tuesday, October 8, tight end Tyler Conklin said he doesn't believe Rodgers had anything to do with Saleh's dismissal and added that Rodgers probably "took this harder than anybody."

"I don't think anybody inside this building player-wise or anything thought that [Rodgers] had anything to do with that. I honestly, truly believe that. I mean, Aaron probably took this harder than almost anybody," tight end Tyler Conklin told ESPN's Rich Cimini.

While Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show that it's "interesting the amount of power that people think" he has, it's difficult not to feel that way when Nathaniel Hackett has someone retained his job despite the fact that the Jets offense hasn't functioned correctly in the two seasons he's been the team's offensive coordinator.

The controversial 40-year-old quarterback also said that he "resents the accusations" that he had a hand in Saleh's canning.

"I resent any of those accusations because they're badly false. It's interesting the amount of power people think I have. Which I don't. I love Robert and it was one of those days yesterday," Rodgers told McAfee on Wednesday, October 9.

The Jets will play their first game under new interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich on October 14 when they take on the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. Despite their disappointing 2-3 start, the Jets find themself in a position to take sole possession of the first place in the AFC East if they can beat the Bills in Week 6.
