World heavyweight title number one contender match set for Raw

Geno Mrosko is a lifelong pro wrestling fan who has been covering it since becoming a Manager at Cageside Seats in 2011.

During today's (Sat., Nov. 2, 2024) Crown Jewel premium live event at the Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, WWE announced a Fatal 4-Way match for Monday Night Raw next week to determine the next number one contender to the world heavyweight championship.

The participants:

Rollins just defeated Bronson Reed at the PLE. Sheamus worked the pre-show and hasn't been around the main event scene in a while. Mysterio just won a match that guaranteed him entry into a top contender's match.

It's Priest's involvement that is most baffling here. He is the man Mysterio defeated to gain entry. Despite that loss, he gets another shot at another shot? I'm not entirely sure how that makes much sense, nor do I understand why Triple H loves multi-person matches to determine top contenders but here we go again.

Raw will emanate from Riyadh this coming week, so we'll know who is next for GUNTHER soon enough.
