California Developers Sued for Allegedly Polluting River

Two California developers have been sued for allegedly polluting the Santa Maria watershed with contaminated stormwater from a construction site.

Rice Ranch Ventures LLC and Innovative Housing Solutions Inc. were sued by four plaintiffs Thursday in the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

Plaintiffs claim the developers and three other named defendants (John Scardino, Brett Whitaker, Jason Blankenship) failed to obtain proper stormwater discharge permits nor comply with monitoring and reporting requirements under the General Construction Permit issued by the State of California.
