Lee Corso has been the heart and soul of ESPN's "College GameDay" since its inception in 1987. Even at 89 years old, he tries his best to bring energy to the set every single Saturday.
Unfortunately, this Saturday will go down as one to forget for Corso. The always-entertaining analyst just didn't have his fastball this morning in Baton Rouge. He struggled to make his picks and needed assistance for a good portion of that segment.
While it's totally normal for Corso to slow down as he gets older, fans believe ESPN should consider approaching him about retirement. They just don't want to see him struggle on national TV. On the other hand, an argument can be made that he deserves to set the terms.
All we know for sure is that fans are seriously concerned about Corso's health.
"Lee Corso is a legend but ESPN needs to do the right thing and take him off Gameday it's sad to watch his decline," one fan tweeted.
"It's hard to watch Lee Corso," another fan said.
"Lee corso is a legend but let the man relax," a third fan wrote.
Earlier this college football season, Corso was away from ESPN due to illness. It didn't take long for him to bounce back though.
"He's not going to be here this week," Rece Davis said. "He's doing better. He's been a little bit under the weather for the last couple of weeks."
Hopefully, this Saturday's episode was just a rough showing for Corso and nothing more.
