STUART -- Stuart officials are urging residents in various areas along Southwest Ocean Boulevard and U.S. 1. to boil their water or use bottled water for drinking and cooking after a Friday night water main break.
The boil water notice is in effect until further notice, according to a city news release.
Here are the affected areas:
Officials advise residents to use boiled or bottled water for all drinking, including in baby formula, brushing teeth, washing dishes and making ice. That also includes pets.
To ensure water is safe for drinking, it must be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute, city officials stated. Water should be boiled even if it has already been run through a filter. While bathing or showering, make sure not to swallow any water, officials said.
Water quality testing is underway, and it usually takes 48 to 72 hours before water is deemed safe to drink.
