Locals In MiLB: Former Utah Valley Pitcher Signs Minor League Deal With Twins

SALT LAKE CITY - Former Utah Valley hurler Mitch Mueller will continue pursuing his pro baseball dreams after signing a minor league deal with the Minnesota Twins.

Mueller signed his first professional contract on Wednesday, March 5.

"Mitch has always been a tireless worker. This is just another step in, hopefully, a long career for him. He's earned this," said UVU head coach .

Mueller will report to Fort Myers, Florida's Twins spring training complex.

He joins Paxton Schultz (Toronto Blue Jays) and Casey Anderson (Arizona Diamondbacks) as former Wolverines in affiliated baseball. Former Cottonwood Colt Ross Dunn pitched for the Twins Single-A Fort Myers Mighty Mussels in 2024.

A two-time all-conference performer and two-year baseball captain at Brookfield Central High School in Brookfield, Wisconsin, Mueller started his collegiate career at Winona State, followed by a season at Parkland College in 2022. The righty put himself on the Wolverines' radar, striking out 88 batters in 50.1 innings. He ended the year with a 5-3 record.

Mueller appeared as a starter (seven) and reliever (11) as a junior in 2023. His 65 strikeouts were the third most for a Wolverine that season, and he finished 2-5 with a pair of saves.

He went on to make two appearances that summer for the Wareham Gatemen in the prestigious Cape Cod League.

His senior season was great, and he was named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District after going 6-1 with a 4.04 earned run average to lead the team. His six wins were tied for the team lead, and he was second in innings pitched with 64 2/3 innings.

He ended his UVU career with 123 punchouts across 105 2/3 innings.
