The Michigan Wolverines have a long history as a factory for producing National Football League players along the offensive line, and few had as much success during college as Jake Long.
Long was selected with the number one overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings and played eight seasons in the NFL before ultimately retiring in 2017.
Long clocked in at 6-foot-7, 317 pounds or more during his college and professional playing days with the Wolverines, Vikings, Rams and Dolphins.
A picture of Long was shared by Detroit News reporter Tony Paul about Long's surprising recent transformation.
The longtime o-lineman reportedly has lost about 70 pounds in the last two years and looks unrecognizable in a picture posted to X by Paul of Long at his Class of 2024 Michigan Sports Hall-Of-Fame induction.
"Pouncey brothers also lost 70 each," a commenter wrote about the former Florida stars and brothers Mike and Maurkice Pouncey.
"He lost a lot more than 70 pounds buddy!" another fan wrote. "He peaked at 330 pounds. He looks about 200 pounds now."
The Wolverines currently have nine players in the National Football League along the offensive line, including Zak Zinter, Trevor Keegan and three others from last year's national championship team.
