Alabama moves up one spot in new CFP rankings

TUSCALOOSA, Ala -- The Crimson Tide move up one spot in the new College Football Playoff rankings that were released on Tuesday night.

Alabama scored an impressive win in Death Valley against LSU this past Saturday night, causing the Tigers to drop seven spots from last week, from 15 to 22.

Another game with huge implications was the Ole Miss' 28-10 win over Georgia. The Rebels jump five spots to No. 11, and are the only new team that would be in the CFP 12-team field in the season ended today.

Conversely, Georgia fell out of the Top-12 after losing to Ole Miss. The Bulldogs are now listed as the first team out of the CFP rankings.

After playing with fire for most of the season, Miami drops its first game of the season to Georgia Tech, and dropped five spots from No. 4 to No. 9.

Texas moves up two spots to No. 3 and is now the only SEC team in the top five, the other four spots being occupied by Big Ten teams.

For the first time in program history, Indiana is 10-0 and top 5 in the CFP rankings.

Alabama has a clear path to the SEC Championship, and the first round bye that comes with winning the league title. If the Crimson Tide win its final three regular season games, and Tennessee and Texas A&M suffer one loss each, then Alabama will earn a spot in the SEC Championship Game.
