Waldorf Volunteer Firefighter/EMT Dies In Pennsylvania Crash - The BayNet

WALDORF, Md. - The Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department is mourning the loss of 21-year-old firefighter and EMT Joscelynne Pannone, who died early Wednesday morning in a motor vehicle crash in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 81 when Pannone lost control of the SUV she was driving and struck a parked flatbed truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pannone joined the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department in September 2021, initially serving with EMS 3 before transferring to Fire Division 3. She previously volunteered with the Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire Department and was also an active firefighter with the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Company.

In addition to responding to emergency calls, Pannone played a key role in Fire 3's fire prevention program and remained committed to public service while continuing her education at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she was studying to become an EMT.

"It is with heartbreak and sadness that we announce the untimely passing of active EMT/FF member Joscelynne Pannone," the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Company said in a statement. "She had so much more greatness ahead of her. She will truly be missed by many."

In her honor, Charles County Commissioner President Reuben B. Collins II ordered the county flag to be flown at half-staff through sunset on June 1, the day of her scheduled celebration of life at Waldorf Fire Station 3.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
