DETROIT - A bit of a wintry mess is expected to stick around for the rest of this Monday, but things should improve as we head into Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
For the rest of this Monday expect a mix of rain, snow, sleet and freezing rain across Metro Detroit. The rain will likely take place along and south of I-94, the snow north of M-59, and between is where we have the best chance to see a mixture of it all from time to time through about 7 p.m.

After about 7 p.m., we see snow start to encompass most of Southeast Michigan, with again the chance for rain really being confined to the southern part of the area. This all continues through the 10 p.m. hour, then should start to wind down.
With snow falling this evening, some of us can expect to see some accumulation. A half inch to 3'' of snow can be expected, with lesser amounts south, and higher amounts closer to the Thumb.
Most of Metro Detroit will be around 1'', perhaps 2''.
With this wintry mess in place, most of Metro Detroit is under a Winter Weather Advisory for the rest of this Monday.
Monroe and Wayne counties are excluded from this as the impacts in these areas should be a good deal less.
Tuesday
The precipitation comes to an end later tonight and we dry out as we progress towards daybreak Tuesday. Temperatures overnight stay steady near the freezing mark.
Christmas Eve should be a fairly quiet day with cloudy skies and highs in the middle 30s. This forecast can be copy and pasted for Christmas day as we're expecting temperatures to be just a notch warmer.
Rest of the week
Later in the week is when the warmth really moves in. By the weekend highs are back closer to 50 degrees, around 15 degrees above where we should be this time of the year.
The trade-off with the warmth is the chance for rain returns. You'll want to keep the umbrellas handy on both Saturday and Sunday as we're expecting rounds of rain both days.
