Let it snow, let it snow, let it ... hey, wait a minute.
The song would have been spot on if used during the recent Christmas holidays. This is January and the impending cold front expected to bring snow and ice is already starting to complicate this week's high school sports schedule in the Baton Rouge area.
Though school has already been canceled on Tuesday for practically every school in the area, the process of rescheduling games is developing slowly.
"We've had a few games moved. I think most coaches were focused on playing their Friday games first," said Harry Jenkins, the assignment secretary for the Baton Rouge Area Basketball Officials Association. "I'm sure I'll hear more tonight and maybe even into tomorrow.
"We have a lot of games on Tuesday and the tricky thing is that they have to be rescheduled for days other than Tuesday or Friday. On those days, we're booked up already for the rest of the (regular) season."
Two key boys soccer contests have been rescheduled. A District 6-II match between Prairieville and Tara has been moved to 6 p.m. Monday at Prairieville. Meanwhile, in Division I-4, Baton Rouge High will now host Catholic High at 6 p.m. Thursday
Virtually speaking
Though schools throughout the state will likely be closed Tuesday, the LHSAA will begin its annual virtual meetings in advance of the LHSAA convention set for Jan. 29-30 at Baton Rouge's Crowne Plaza.
The virtual meetings are set for Tuesday through Thursday, giving administrators from throughout the state a chance to review the convention agenda.
