The Tennessee Titans have only been a NFL franchise since 1997, but they have already developed a few legends and Hall of Fame players over the years.
From the late Steve McNair to Eddie George and most recently Derrick Henry, there have been some highly talented players to come through Tennessee over the last two decades.
As the Titans look to reset the future of their franchise heading into year two with Brian Callahan as head coach and their new GM, Mike Borganzi -- who they hired this week from the Kansas City Chiefs -- there are a handful of teams in similar positions trying to find their next head coach.
The Chicago Bears are one of those franchises, and have plenty of attractive pieces in place, starting with QB Caleb Williams, who they drafted with the No. 1 overall pick last April.
The Bears have to get this head coaching hire right if they want to maximize Williams' talent and compete in an NFC North loaded with talented teams.
The coaching search in Chicago has already been a vast one. So far, the Chicago brass has interviewed former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy and they have expressed interest in Notre Dame front man Marcus Freeman. They have requested to interview Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury and many believe both Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn -- who are now available for interviews as the Lions were eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday night -- will be strong candidates in Chicago.
But around the same time the Lions faced the stunning upset to the Commanders, NFL insiders began to report the Bears were interviewing a former Tennessee Titans legend that has no professional head coaching experience.
In the FOX pregame show on Saturday, Jay Glazer mentioned the Bears were set to interview former Titans RB Eddie George on Sunday morning.
"How about this?" Glazer said on the NFL on FOX postgame show. "The Chicago Bears - who I know Ben Johnson's on their list - here's a surprise candidate that they are interviewing tomorrow. ... Eddie George. How about that? He was the head coach at Tennessee State the last four years. Was Coach of the Year in his conference, won his conference. They will interview him tomorrow morning."
George has been the head coach at Tennessee State since 2021 and has a 24-22 record. He took the Tigers from a 5-6 record in 2021 to a 9-4 mark in 2024. While that's an impressive feat for an FCS college program, leading a NFL franchise is a much taller task.
