SOUTHEASTERN, NC (WWAY) -- First responders from multiple departments, including police, sheriff deputies, and fire crews, worked together to rescue and evacuate residents and pets trapped by rising floodwaters across the region. Heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding, leaving many stranded in their homes and vehicles on several major roads.
Teams from surrounding areas were dispatched to assist in the effort, using specialized equipment to reach those in the hardest-hit areas. Emergency officials are urging residents to avoid flooded roads and remain vigilant.
