South Carolina will be in front of their home fans on Saturday, but a look at the spread shows they might need that home-field advantage. They and the Ole Miss Rebels will face off in a SEC Bowl Subdivision battle at 3:30 p.m. ET at Williams-Brice Stadium. The Gamecocks will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

South Carolina is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Akron for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-7 victory at home. The margin was wide but not a surprise since the spread was 25 in the Gamecocks' favor.

Robby Ashford was a one-man wrecking crew for South Carolina as he rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Oscar Adaway III was in the mix too, providing South Carolina with two touchdowns.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, South Carolina was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 549 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

Meanwhile, Ole Miss unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak dating back to last season on Saturday. They fell just short of Kentucky by a score of 20-17. The match marked the Rebels' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite their loss, Ole Miss saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tre Harris, who picked up 176 receiving yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Dart, who threw for 261 yards and a touchdown.

Even if they lost, Ole Miss' defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Leading the way was Suntarine Perkins with two.

South Carolina's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Ole Miss, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-1.

The upcoming contest will be a clash of competing strengths. South Carolina has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 194 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Ole Miss has preferred to attack from the air: they average 379.6 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Saturday? There's only one way to find out.
